Domestic Energy Assessor

What is a domestic energy assessor and how to they have an effect on the domestic market?

Domestic energy assessors test the energy efficiency of buildings to produce a report. These reports are used for creating an energy performance certificate (EPC) . These certificates rate the level of energy saving within a property.

EPC s in Northern Ireland will become mandatory from 30th June 2008

A DEA will inspect properties to collect information on their age, number of storeys, building type, heating and hot water systems

  • take note of the number and size of corridors, windows and fireplaces
  • enter the information into a computer software programme, which will produce an energy efficiency rating and an EPC
  • explain efficiency ratings to homeowners
  • give practical advice on how to improve the energy efficiency of their home.
If you would like to register as a home inspector to receive the latest information about legislation and the market for free please do so here.
